Shatterskin -Ebook
Book 1 of The Return To Erda, a coming of age fantasy series.
She wanted adventure. What she got was monsters, magical puberty, and talking trees with attitude.
Twelve-year-old Hannah had a perfectly reasonable plan: step through a portal, become a hero, maybe save a few trees. Instead, she faceplants into a forest, ages a decade, and lands in a dimension where her talking bird might be a dragon, her fairy guides are total smartmouths, and her destiny is wrapped in mystery, mayhem, and a wardrobe straight out of a superhero thrift shop.
Welcome to Erda—a world teetering on the brink, plagued by monsters like Shatterskin (yep, just as charming as it sounds), and waiting for someone powerful enough to fix it. Apparently, that someone is her.
Too bad Hannah doesn’t remember who she really is. Or how to use the magic she supposedly has. Or why everyone’s staring like she’s the plot twist nobody saw coming.
Fast-paced, funny, and fiercely magical, Shatterskin is a portal fantasy for fans of Percy Jackson, Keeper of the Lost Cities, and that one scene in Narnia where everything gets weird in the best way.

I was given this book for free to read and review. This is a really interesting YA book about a young girl who travels to an alt-dimension earth to try and save it from the ultimate evil. I really enjoyed this book. I especially liked the characters because each one has such a unique personality. The story is compelling and keeps you guessing and you won't want to put it done. You are immediately invested into whether Hannah will remember who she is and what she can do before Shatterskin and the shrieks destroy everything. If you have a tween or teen looking for a new fantasy series to read and they like books like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson I think this series will be right up their alley.
How the heck do you tell a story about a completely different world as experienced by a young girl, from a young girl's perspective? Okay, now let's add some really deep concepts. Oh, yeah, to make life interesting, let's add some completely foreign beings who may or may not give us an alternative view of some beings that we may or may not know in this world. Okay, wait, now let's make it a life or death, or death or life, drama. Sure, how do you put all that together in a story?Ask Beca Lewis to write it, that's how. And then read it.
Shatterskin is a great adventure to another dimension. Good plot, fun characters and thoughtful insight on caring for the planet. Can’t wait for the next book!

About The Author
BECA LEWIS thinks the world is not what it looks like, so she spends her time looking for what isn’t always visible. Addicted to reading from childhood, she thought that the worlds she read about were real. Now she asks, who says they are not?
Beca writes and coaches on shifting the story from her home in Ohio, where she lives with her husband and bunches of birds, trees, flowers, and squirrels.
She says they know more than she does about what is real, and what is not.
